UTICA, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — A Utica man faces a litany of charges after a Tuesday raid on his Miller Street home found several handguns and under a pound of drugs.
Utica Police executed a search warrant at 1129 Miller Street on Tuesday, February 11. Joining them in the narcotics and weapons investigation were the department’s Special Investigations Unit, as well as the Oneida County Sheriffs’ Narcotics Unit and Metro SWAT.
During their investigation, Utica Police were able to detain 24-year-old Douglas Smallwood of Utica, who was the target of their search warrant. Police then entered the Miller Street residence to execute the other part of the search warrant.
Police were able to seize four handguns from the residence. One of those handguns allegedly had a modified “switch” that made it fully automatic. Also included in the seizure were:

Three extended handgun magazines,
-
448 grams — nine-tenths of a pound — of fentanyl,

packing materials for narcotics, and
Smallwood was eventually transported to the Utica Police Department. He was ultimately charged with:

first-degree Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, a Class A-I Felony,
-
third-degree Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Sell, a Class B Felony,
-
four counts of Criminal Possession of a Firearm, a Class E Felony,
-
four counts of second-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon, a Class C Violent Felony, and
-
three counts of third-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon for the extended magazines, a Class D Violent Felony.
