PATTAYA — A deadly altercation in Pattaya ended in tragedy when a Japanese tourist was fatally stabbed during an early morning confrontation on Pattaya Third Road. The incident, captured on vehicle dashcam footage, occurred at 6:06 AM on Sunday.
The victim, identified as Mr. Seita, 27, a Japanese national, suffered a fatal stab wound to the chest. Despite immediate CPR efforts by emergency responders and transportation to the hospital, medical staff were unable to save his life. Police recovered a knife at the scene believed to be the murder weapon.
The suspect, David, 36, a Thai-British man, was arrested at the scene showing signs of heavy intoxication. He sustained facial swelling and body scratches during the altercation, with his shirt torn. Witnesses reported that even after his arrest, the suspect appeared unremorseful, making “I love you” gestures to police officers.
The incident started as an argument between the Thai-British man and his foreign girlfriend, according to a 22-year-old Thai witness known only as ‘B’. When B and the Japanese victim attempted to intervene, the situation escalated.
After an initial confrontation where the suspect punched the Japanese man, the groups were separated. However, the Japanese man later returned and punched the suspect, leading to a chaotic fight that ended when the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim.
The incident was captured on a bus driver’s dashcam, showing the crucial moments of the fight. The footage reveals the victim’s girlfriend desperately calling out to “Seita” to stop as he rushed toward the suspect with a flying kick. After both men fell, they engaged in a brief struggle before moving out of the camera’s view, followed by woman’s scream.
Police Lieutenant Ittiporn Tangchootaweesup of Pattaya City Police Station has secured the dashcam footage as evidence and is gathering witness statements as part of the ongoing investigation. The victim’s girlfriend and friends, who were present at the hospital when Mr. Seita was pronounced dead, had to be restrained by police to prevent further violence.
