Nearly 40,000 customers across Northern Virginia lost power Sunday after a cold front brought high winds and rain to the region.
At 7:30 p.m., Dominion Energy reported more than 77,000 customers out across the state, with more than 35,000 of those in Northern Virginia, mainly in Fairfax, which saw over 14,600 outages.
Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative reported about 2,900 customers out in Loudoun, Prince William and Fauquier counties.
Rappahannock Electric Cooperative reported more than 10,000 customers out at 7:30 p.m., most of those in Spotsylvania, Louisa and Clarke counties.
A high wind warning continues for most of Northern Virginia through 10 p.m. Sunday. The forecast calls for sustained west winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts of 50 to 60 mph, the weather service said.
