A.J.’s Forecast: Several weather systems bringing rain to southern New England

AND AS WE STEP TOWARD THE MIDDAY TIME FRAME AROUND CHARLOTTE, A HUB, BY THE WAY, I WOULD PLAN ON SOME MODERATE DELAYS DOWN THAT WAY AS SEVERE WEATHER WORKS ON THROUGH THERE. EVENTUALLY THAT WILL SPREAD UP TOWARD WASHINGTON, D.C. LATER ON THIS AFTERNOON. AND THEN WE’RE TALKING ABOUT MAYBE SOME EARLY MORNING DELAYS AROUND HERE IN BOSTON TOMORROW. IF WE TOOK THE RAINFALL STEP BY STEP HERE. OKAY. THIS IS TODAY’S RAINFALL. NOTICE A BUNCH OF ZEROS, RIGHT. WE’RE NOT GOING TO GET NO RAIN, BUT I THINK IT WILL END UP BEING LESS THAN A 10TH OF AN INCH AS THESE SHOWERS COME RACING THROUGH AROUND MIDDAY TODAY DOWN TOWARD THE SOUTH COAST OF NEW ENGLAND MAY GET A LITTLE BIT MORE THAN THAT, MAYBE A 10TH OF AN INCH, BECAUSE YOU’LL BE WITH THE SHOWERS FOR THE BETTER PART OF THIS MORNING THROUGH MIDDAY. NOW WE GET INTO SOME MORE RAIN LATE TONIGHT INTO TOMORROW. THAT COULD TACK ON ABOUT ANOTHER HALF INCH TO THREE QUARTERS OF AN INCH OF RAIN, WIDESPREAD ACROSS THE AREA. THEN WE HAVE ANOTHER DOSE OF RAIN COMING UP FOR NEW YEAR’S EVE, NEW YEAR’S DAY, AND THAT COULD TACK ON ANOTHER HALF TO THREE QUARTERS OF AN INCH OF RAIN. SO THAT, ALL TOLD, WE END UP WITH BETWEEN 1 AND 2IN OF RAINFALL COLLECTIVELY, FROM ALL THE RAIN THAT WE HAVE YET TO GET THROUGH. ALL RIGHT, RIGHT NOW, OUT THE DOOR. IT’S DENSE FOG FOR MANY OF YOU. DENSE FOG ADVISORY HAS BEEN EXTENDED UNTIL 11:00 THIS MORNING, EXCEPT FOR THE SOUTH COAST, THE CAPE AND THE ISLANDS, WHERE VISIBILITIES HAVE IMPROVED A LITTLE BIT. STILL FOGGY DOWN THERE THAT WAY. WE’VE GOT A MILE VISIBILITY IN HYANNIS, THREE MILES IN P-TOWN. BUT YOU SEE, WE’VE GOT FRACTIONS HERE. BOSTON, NORWOOD LAWRENCE AND FITCHBURG. YOU REMEMBER FRACTIONS FROM HIGH SCHOOL? THERE YOU GO. YEAH, HALF OF A MILE. VISIBILITY IN SOME CASES OR LESS THAN THAT. SO WE’RE STUCK IN THE 30S. ROUTE TWO ON NORTHWARD NASHUA LAWRENCE BEVERLY AT 35 DEGREES, GET DOWN TO BOSTON, THE MASS PIKE. IT’S CLOSER TO 40, BUT THEN YOU’RE GOING TO CROSS A WARM FRONT. AND MY GOODNESS, LOOK HOW MILD IT IS. CLOSE TO 50 DEGREES DOWN TO THE SOUTH COAST AND THE CAPE AND THE ISLANDS. THIS WARM FRONT SLOWLY LIFTING NORTHWARD. OH, IT’S GOING TO TAKE THE BETTER PART OF THE DAY FOR THAT TO HAPPEN. SO THOSE OF YOU IN THE 30S WILL END UP CLOSER TO 40 THIS AFTERNOON. THOSE OF US IN THE 40S WILL END UP CLOSER TO 50 THIS AFTERNOON AND CLEAR INTO THE 50S DOWN TO THE SOUTH. HERE’S THE AFOREMENTIONED RAIN THAT I’M TRACKING. SHOWERS ALONG THE SOUTH COAST. MORE SHOWERS BACK COMING OUT OF WASHINGTON, D.C. THIS AREA WILL CATCH UP WITH US TOWARD MIDDAY TODAY. IT’S FLEETING, IT’S LIGHT, BUT YOU’LL HAVE TO CARRY THE UMBRELLA THEN. WE’VE GOT THIS MESS TO GET THROUGH. AND THIS IS OURS FOR TOMORROW MORNING. SO FOR TODAY, DENSE FOG, SHOWERS, SLOWLY RISING. TEMPERATURES 40S AND 50S OUT THERE TONIGHT. SHOWERS TOWARD MORNING. IT’LL BE CLOUDY WITH RISING TEMPERATURES. AND THEN FOR TOMORROW MORNING’S COMMUTE. THAT’S WHY WE’RE CALLING TOMORROW AN IMPACT. WEATHER DAY. A GOOD DEAL OF SOME MODERATE TO HEAVY RAIN AT TIMES. IT’S A QUICK MOVING BAND THAT WILL COME THROUGH DURING THE TAIL END OF THE MORNING COMMUTE. TOWARD MIDDAY, WE CLIMB INTO THE UPPER 50S. ANY ONE OF THOSE DOWNPOURS COULD PUT DOWN SOME GUSTY WINDS BETTER THAN 40MPH. THEN WE’RE BACK TO SOME SUNSHINE. DRIER WEATHER FOR TUESDAY FOR A BIT AND TUESDAY NIGHT INTO WEDNESDAY. ON NEW YEAR’S EVE, NEW YEAR’S DAY, MORE RAIN I
