“The actors in Wicked need to learn from this”: John Lithgow Breaks Silence on ‘Conclave’ Upset After Cynthia Erivo’s Public Outburst


2024 was a wild year for cinema and this year’s Oscar nominations are proof of it. Despite getting nominated for Best Picture, in a shocking twist both Conclave and Wicked’s directors lost out on the nomination for Best Director. Both films have also received numerous other nominations in technical and acting categories as well.

While Conclave actor John Lithgow expressed his disappointment with the snub, he did mention that it was a part and parcel of the awards season and director Edwar Berger would be proud of the rest of the nominations. Contrary to Lithgow’s statement, Wicked’s Cynthia Erivo expressed anger and confusion at director Jon M. Chu losing out on the nomination.
