The dream for some Cincinnati Reds fans has finally come true. Well, sort of. No, it’s not a World Series title, but fans can now watch the team throughout the season without having to pay for a cable, satellite, or full streaming package. FanDuel Sports Network Ohio (former Bally Sports Ohio) has the Reds games in 2025 and they are now permitted to offer games as a part of a direct-to-consumer deal for $19.99 per month. For locals that will also include Cleveland Cavalier games and Columbus Blue Jackets games. If you are looking to watch year round, it’s $189.99 per year, which may be a better deal if you are interested in watching more than just the Reds games.
With this package you can stream the games on both iOS and Android devices. You can also utilize Amazon Fire TV’s and Fire Sticks, Android TV’s, Apple TV, Roku TV’s and streaming devices, Samsung Smart TV’s, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. You can sign up for this or get more details at this link right here. For fans that are out of the Cincinnati market, you can go the MLB.tv route for streaming games.
For some fans, just finding the right cable/satellite/streaming package may still be the better option. In the greater Cincinnati area it was announced on Friday that Altafiber, who dropped FanDuel Sports from their lineup when they lost the broadcast rights to the Reds games following the 2024 season, that they have added the channel back to their lineup with the station re-securing the broadcasts for 2025. Spectrum also carries FanDuel Sports. If you get FanDuel Sports Network through a cable/satellite/streaming service you should also be able to use the app to stream games.
However, for some people – like myself – I have subscribed to cable during the baseball season solely for the purpose of watching Reds games. Everything else that I watched came from other sources. Being able to spend $19.99 a month for the games instead of an additional $50+ a month as an add on to my internet bill. This deal is a good money saver.
Major League Baseball has been trying to cash in on national broadcast money over the last few years beyond just what’s been your traditional ESPN or Fox games. Now there are also games that are on Apple TV (which costs money) and ROKU (which is free and does not require a ROKU tv or streaming device, but you can use those or just their website – TheRokuChannel.com).
All of that means that you will not be able to get all 162 games with FanDuel Sports Network for $19.99 a month. If the Reds are playing in one of the national games that happens to be on ESPN, MLB Network, Fox, TBS, Apple TV, or ROKU – you will have to find another way to watch.
Still, there’s plenty of good news here. People can choose to buy the Reds games directly while still living in-market for the first time ever. Those who have Altafiber will be getting FanDuel Sports back in time for games this season.
